Are the pieces safe to eat from?
Yes. The top bowl uses a food-safe glaze designed for food-contact ceramics. The glaze is applied only to the bowl — the decorative mosaic on the pedestal base is on the exterior only and does not come into contact with food.
How should I care for my bowl?
Hand wash only. Use warm water and mild soap for the bowl. Wipe the mosaic pedestal base with a soft damp cloth — do not submerge it in water. Do not use a dishwasher or microwave. Avoid dragging the base across hard surfaces. Allow the piece to reach room temperature before washing — avoid sudden temperature changes. Do not store acidic foods (vinegar, citrus) for extended periods. Keep out of direct sunlight to preserve color vibrancy. With proper care, your piece will last for years.
Can I put it in the dishwasher or microwave?
No. The mosaic tilework is hand-finished and should not be exposed to the heat cycling of a dishwasher or microwave. Hand washing is the only recommended cleaning method.
What are the pieces made of?
The pieces are made of ceramic — fired with a food-safe glaze. The pedestal base is the same ceramic body, with hand-applied mosaic tiles made of colored ceramic pieces, sealed with a protective finish for durability.
Is the mosaic hand-applied?
Yes. The mosaic tiles on the pedestal base are applied by hand, one tile at a time. This means slight variations between pieces are normal and part of the handmade character. Each piece is inspected for adhesion, color consistency, and sharp edge control.
